Welcome to the City of Melbourne and thanks for applying to register your pet.

About pet registration

The registration period is from 11 April each year and you'll be sent an annual renewal reminder in February - March. You can opt to save paper and help the environment by getting your renewal conveniently via email - just let us know by checking the box on your application.

Also, while the application fee applies all year, if you apply after 1 January each year, you pay 50 per cent less than the original application fee.

If you've purchased your pet from a shelter, your initial application fee will be waived. This is to promote the re-homing of animals from registered animal shelters.

We will also waive the fee if you're moving from another council and have already paid your registration. However, we will need proof of this, so have this ready to upload.
